  • How much time can an automated migration save?
    That depends on the systems involved, the data volume and the quality of the existing data. Particularly large savings are possible on recurring tasks such as exports, field mappings, transformations, test imports and data reconciliations. In the first step, we analyse which activities are currently done manually and which of them can be automated. This gives you a realistic estimate of the possible time savings before the project starts.
  • How does an automated migration actually save money?
    The cost of a migration is not only the invoices from external service providers. The working time of your business departments, the development of one-off scripts, repeated correction loops and the parallel operation of the old and new systems also cause considerable costs. Through reusable workflows, automated checks and controlled test runs, fewer manual project hours are needed. At the same time, the parallel operation can be shortened and the benefit of the new system realised earlier.
  • Which systems can be migrated with Percol?
    In principle, systems that provide an API, database access or structured export and import options are suitable. These include, for example, CRM, ERP, helpdesk, project-management, knowledge and other SaaS systems. Whether and to what extent a migration can be automated is something we check in advance based on the specific source and target system.
  • Can we keep working in the existing system during the migration?
    In many cases, yes. First we run test migrations with a defined dataset. Shortly before go-live, the changes that have arisen since the last transfer can then be added via a delta migration. This means the source system can often continue to be used until shortly before the final switchover. How long this is possible depends on the technical capabilities of the systems involved.
  • How do you make sure no data is lost?
    Before the productive migration, we define together which data, relationships and histories have to be transferred. After each test run, we check, among other things, record counts, mandatory fields, links and defined quality rules. Faulty or non-uniquely assignable records are not silently skipped. They are documented and provided in an exception list for review. After the productive migration, you receive a final migration report.
  • Does an AI decide on its own how our data is changed?
    Critical changes and unambiguous transformations are carried out based on defined and traceable rules. AI can assist with tasks that are hard to solve with rules alone, for example mapping inconsistent categories, classifying free text or detecting similar records. Uncertain results are flagged and can be approved by a human before the transfer.
  • Where is the data processed during the migration?
    The migration workflows can run on Percol's sovereign European infrastructure. Which additional data flows arise depends on the source and target systems used and their hosting locations. Before the project starts, we define which systems may access which data, which data is cached and when it is deleted again.
  • How does a migration project with Percol work?
    At the start, we analyse the source system, target system, data volume, data quality and business requirements. We then run a pilot migration with a representative sample of data. On this basis, mapping, transformation and validation rules are defined. This is followed by full test migrations, sign-off by your company, the productive and, where applicable, delta migration, as well as a final migration report.
  • How can we have our migration reviewed?
    First, send us the key information about your source system, your target system, the approximate data volume and the desired migration date via our migration check. Our team then assesses which parts can be automated, where particular risks lie and how time, parallel operation and manual project costs can be reduced.
